Under the direction of a licensed nurse, provides a wide variety of support to residents with daily living activities. Support activities may include, but are not limited to, dietary support, light cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, etc. Ensures service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner.

| Duties: | • Follows plan of care to help the resident maintain a healthy and safe environment.
• Assists the resident with walking, and treatments as ordered by physician and nurse.
• Assists in the rehabilitative process.
• Promotes resident’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
• Gives simple emotional support to resident and family members, works to establish a relationship with family, and maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Gives personal attention to residents to help provide and maintain physical and emotional comfort, works to maximize independent living.
• Works to lessen the burden of illness physically, emotionally, and/or economically.
• Provides support activities to allow resident to remain in their home, in familiar surroundings, as long as possible.
• Assists residents adjust to home life after returning from hospital or long term care facility.
• Follows the model “helps families to help themselves” teaching, demonstrating and supporting the family/resident to be independent.
• Assists in ensuring the safety of staff, residents, and visitors by identifying potential safety hazards to immediate supervisor and following all emergency plans (i.e., evacuation, hurricane, etc.)
• Honor Resident Bill of Rights.
• Supports Mease Manor’s mission and vision.
• As a legal and moral responsibility, immediately reports all witnessed or suspected resident abuse, neglect, exploitation or misappropriation of funds to department director.
• All other duties as assigned. |
| Qualifications: | Physical effort/Requirements:
The following are typical physical demands of the job, reasonable accommodations may be provided.
• Strength: occasionally moves (i.e., pushing, carrying, and/or pulling) up to 25 pounds.
• Walking/running, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling: traverses throughout the floor and department.
Credentials/Experience:
• One year of experience preferred. |
